larry the hairy friendly bear
I wrote Larry The Hairy Friendly Bear when my daughter Sophie was 4 years old and my intention was to make reading fun for her, through the rhyming narrative. As a final year Games Design student, I have built a digital version of the story with the collaboration of my husband (developer), Gemma Phillips (primary school teacher – narrator) and Hyde Park Infant School Plymouth (research and testing).
Still in a prototype stage, Larry is waiting patiently to be finished and made available, so he can support the young audience with learning High Frequency Words in a fun, engaging way, through simple interactions. Set in a 3D theatre-like environment, with all the characters designed to resemble cardboard cut-outs, this application had a great reception during the Plymouth College of Art Final Year Showcase event.
